San Sebastián - Paula and Maria

Hi, we are Maria and Paula and we are gonna do a presentation about San Sebastian, a city in the north of Spain. San Sebastian is coastal city and located in the Basque Autonomous Community, so it’s closed to France. It’s famous because of the beach of La Concha and its gastronomy.

It’s the most classic, the most photographed and the most visited San Sebastian places. The beach of la concha is a beach in the Bay of la Concha and it’s considered one of the most famous urban beaches in Europe and one of the best city beaches in the world. People often recommend walking by its 1, 5 kilometres in autumn because they say that in this season you can actually enjoy the true charm of the beach.

This is the center of the old town of San Sebastián. The main building of the square was the town hall until de 40s. It is a beautiful place where you can take a coffee and spend the day with your family and friends.

Not many cities have an island in the centre of their bays and San Sebastian is one of them. Santa Clara Island was declared a Historical National Interest Site 40 years ago. A boat service runs to the island, and there you can stroll to the singular lighthouse building or enjoy a coffee sitting in the sun outside a bar. Also there are some restaurants where you can eat, but if you prefer nature, there are some beautiful picnic areas.

This theatre dates back to 1912 and it has been the building where has took place the International Festival of Cinema for years.

Until 1924 it was the Big Casino of San Sebastián. Here you could see politics and other famous people that went there to spent time and money.
Nowadays it is the town hall of the city and the gardens around him makes this building a beautiful touristic place.

It’s a sculpture created by two men of San Sebastian. It’s a perfect example of the fusion between art and landscape. Every piece weights 10 tonne.  When there’s rough sea the view becomes amazing. Unfortunately is temporally closed.

It’s a nature park. However, you cannot go there whenever you want. You have to ask local government for permission and only 60 people can visit it in one day. Just in San Agustin festivity it’s opened to the public. It’s a fantastic place for hiking lovers due to there are so many routes. As you can see, the landscape is amazing.

TAMBORRADA
It is a typical festival that they celebrate the 20th of January. It starts at La Plaza de la Constitución at 12 a.m, when they raise up the flag of the town and then they start to play the typical melodies during all the day, until 12 a.m of the next day.
